As stated elsewhere, _Lasar has mirrored the entire PPAC discography.

The tracks are, of course, pre-loved.

ppac_14_front_web.jpg

The last time I did any work on this thing was in December. Since I'd rather move on to bigger and badder (read : worse) noise, i figured it's time to stick a fork in it and move on with my life.

Seemed the right thing to do after bda informed me that Nails (who've done nothing of awesome in years) have gone to prog. Which is a lot like going to plaid, in that it's a cute special effect and a horrible, horrible joke told by somebody in shiny pants.

Maybe Trent will follow in the steps of Fear Factory - release a techno-industrial remix thing after the Concept Album, then transition into a shitty "nu-metl" (or whatever the fuck) band, ditch the core audience and proceed to wander around aimlessly with an ever-growing list of ex-keyboardists.

I doubt it, but I've got a lot of bile (Tool's gone to shit, Nails isn't industrial anymore, Fear Factory and KMFDM haven't done anything listenable or noteworthy ["continuing to suck like a hoover" isn't noteworthy], and thank Gid the most recent FLA album is listenable, etc, etc), and no actual musical ability. So.

Track List

01. Club Dance Beat 013.5 : Staticy beats-and-clank. The beats are completely canned; the clank and static are not.

02. Godflush (Monogastric) : Remix. Excised some of the shittier high end bits that were driving me nuts.

03. Pisspower (Boned Mix) : Grindier remix of PISSPOWER.

04. Stress Fracture : The manditory semi-ambient noise track.

05. The Digital Vats Of Urine : Heavily distorted piss. Plus beats. There's a single beat right after the fadeout - rather than go through all the fucking hassle of trimming it (and recompressing it, and retagging it, and reuploading it, and resyncing the ipod), I'm hereby calling the shortest motherfucking bonus track, ever. Yes.

Onward and upward - though probably not until I'm back on antidepressants, considering I haven't done fuckall with PPAC since I pissed out the last of the happy pills.

18:36 <@esch> solios: What do you use to make beats for PPAC?
18:39 <@solios> Garageband.
18:39 <@solios> >_>
18:40 <@esch> Huh.
18:40 <@esch> I always forget about that.

Since he asked:

  • Garageband 2* for beats and a lot of tracks, as well as general MIDI editing, etc.
  • Final Cut Pro for silly-putty style time stretching. It speeds up and slows down the track with almost no limits, as opposed to the half/quarter Autechre-esque beat distortion that Soundtrack does. Not sure why the rest of the Apple audio apps can't do this kind of distortion, but it doesn't matter - FCP does a great job of it. Almost all of Crooner was done in FCP.
  • Metasynth for basic audio mangling. I have no idea how to actually use the application, so I just kick it until it squawks. Hasn't been used since BADISTHEGOAL.
  • Wiretap Pro to pull audio out of Metasynth and VLC.
  • Soundtrack for everything else.

* I need GB3's OMFGPODCASTING!!!! feejurz about as much as I need a spare uterus.

22:24 <@ejp> solios: imagine what you could do with a spare uterus *and* teeth in your asshole.

prolapse_13_cover.jpg

The 13th PPAC release, featuring several remixes, some beats, and some ambience. Album artwork is vastly better than Canned, using photographs taken around Xeno's old place. As usual, it's the best PPAC album ever.

Tracks

01. Hymenoptera : A drum and bass cover of Flight Of The Bumblebee, built with samples, loops, and a FotB MIDI dug up on the interwebs. FUN.

02. Anal Bouys : Remix of the Crust Requiem track Channel Bouys. Stripped down, with more emphasis on the drums and the bass.

03. Glork (Wombat) : Clunky, beat-heavy remix of Glork, the second track from CROONER.

04. PSSPWR [V1.5 Xopher.tm D-Con.Struction mix] : A nice bit of dark ambience between glorkings.

05. Glork (Wolverine) : Sounds slightly more like the original Glork at the start. More varied than (Wombat).

06. Abrasion : The first track cut for the album, Abrasion features _Lasar on telephone and an extensive, abrasive, stereoriffic rework of parts of Beef Knuckleback Has A Posse.

07. Migraine : Grey industrial ambience transitioning into beats, transitioning into grey industrial ambience. One of the better instances of PPAC grind.

08. This Knife (Lacerated) : Destruction and reconstruction of This Knife, a late-90s track from PPAC's resident South African, Vai. Sounds vaguely Godfleshy.

09. Brainreef : Loop elements from This Knife interact with Bouys drum loops and police radio to form the danciest track on the album.

10. Blockage : Scrch-scrch-screech-crunchcrunchcrunchcrunch-HONK.

11. Pisspower [V2.5 Xopher.tm Duncemix] : Noisy goodness from Xopher.tm. I had to crank up the body of the track to bring the decibels in tune with the rest of the album, which is a good thing - this mix kicks.

12. Hypnagogia : Drone-grade industrial ambience.

13. Pissmissile : The sound of a urinary tract infection. Actually, the sound of pissing with distortion, stereo delays, sample delays, tape loops, etc. slathered on top. From what I've heard about UTIs, this is pretty accurate.

14. Subnuclear Bevelator : PPAC attempts to channel SPK again. Mostly RRRRRRRRRURURURURRUR, though the second half has some nice variety, and a great exit to the album.

Canned
2006.07.31 at 05:57 | comments (3)
canned_front.jpg

Finished on 2006.07.21, but the Gibson was down at the time, so info and track data posting was put off until now.

Canned is a six track, 15:11 EP full of beat-heavy, fast-paced PPAC crunch-crunch. The tracks that go thud!

Track Listing

1. Yib : Hyperspeed mega-man technoindustrial. My favorite track on the EP - short and catchy. Edits of several Garageband dance and 80s beats.

2. Pisspower (Morse Mix) : Pisspowerasschrist in Morse Code format ( .--. .. ... ... .--. --- .-- . .-. .- ... ... -.-. .... .-. .. ... - ) - short higher beats for shorts, slightly longer lower beats for longs. Jungly.

3. Screwed : The cube isn't working. Techno-heavy technoindustrial with samples of Blakes 7 and The Last Starfighter.

4. Warp Rattler : Channel-sensitive morse code positional check (left-right-center) followed by the Konami Code (also in morse) transitioning into beats. Warp Rattler is what Konami decided to call the Vic Viper in the original NES port of Gradius.

5. Waste Station : Fecal matter shall be removed a minimum of fifty feet from the waste station. The mandatory Poop Track, fast-paced jungle-industrial bookened by Tour Of Duty samples. Go go Sargeant Anderson!

6. Sump : Slower (for this EP) marching-beat slurp-drone built on top of a sample of a splurting basement drainage pipe at the workplace. Acoustically, Sump sits between the flavor of Canned and the traditional PPAC feel.

As usual, email for the mp3s, etc.

The next album will be titled A Proper Assraping. I already have a couple of tracks completed: the album is shaping up to be bucketloads of remixes and noise.

Anticlever
2006.07.05 at 18:33 | comments (4)
ppac_11_cover_.jpg

Ten tracks totalling an hour and almost five minutes. The first track was titled by Esch, the rest of them are either anagrams or bits of fagbot's database or - in the mirrorshades cases - the actual web site names.

Anticlever is another "concept" album - in this case, feeding various bits of my web presence (plus bda and kitten for shits and giggles) into The Worlds Largest Band, then editing the resulting midi files in Garageband. Sometimes they get chopped up a lot, sometimes they're only modified a smidge. The result is a vaguely ambient album with a distinct acid industrial-jazz flavor, and some bits of it sound pretty sweet.

Since there's no pissing or shitting on the tracks themselves, the album art has been composed from the three photos I recently took of some dude pissing in an alley off of 18th street. I'm sure he'd rather spend his fifteen minutes of fame differently, but hey - the bastard could have just, you know, pissed in an alley that wasn't ten feet off of a major thoroughfare. So.

Track Listing

01. Metric Shitmile : The totally unused PPAC myspace page sounds fairly decent after a few tweaks.

02. The Could Sets In : So does the LOC site. Some BWOMP BWOMP bass under staticy drums and some scraping synth.

03. Volcano Masters Idiot : Slapping around my DA page until it sounds like a fleet of saxaphones throwing up in a meat grinder.

04. Maturity Whorehouse : The PPAC site is deceptively groovy. Who'd'a'thunkit.

05. Overflow : bda's blog is a brief spurt of crunchy, drum-and-bass ambience...

06. Walled City : ...whereas kitten's is a longer, laid back industrial-jazz grind. Go figure.

07. Slow Bunglesome Doom : Mercury will lull you into a trance with whistling drone-clunk.

08. Do These Pants Make My Ass Look Big? : I was pretty surprised when I plopped the Gravicon midi file into garageband and it didn't suck. Aside from the usual instrument and effect reassignments, there's very little additional editing going on here.

09. The Life And Death Of The Chromed Scrotum : DCR. And it sounds like it, too. More editing than the rest of the tracks, approximating a sound that's more in line with what we've come to expect from PPAC. Minus the shitting.

10. Beef Knuckleback Has A Posse : xeno liked the original ATC midi. I thought it was okay, but it sounded nothing like the story.... and neither does this, even after a hell of a lot of edits, tweaks, and hauling in of some existing PPAC loops. It does, however, sound a lot more like PPAC than the rest of the tracks do... borderline Imminent Starvation, after a fashion.

As usual, email for the mp3s, etc.

ppac_roubt_cover_.jpg

Thirteen tracks totalling 43:50, with some nice solid shitting at the beginning, some noise at the end, a couple of xopher.tm remixes and some other goodness. Tracks 3, 4, and 13 were produced right after LOGGERFICATOR and would have been part of an EP entitled "Wipetap," but I decided to save them for a full album release. Such as it is.

Album titled by mdxi, track 3 titled by ejp. Dung mixes are remixes of older PPAC tracks by xopher.tm. Everything else by me.

Track Listing

01. Assblower XP : It ain't PPAC without some ASS, and this track delivers it in slightly dancy style, dammit.

02. Bone Honer : One of the first tracks cut after discarding the "wipetap" EP. Boingy bass and some grindy percussion.

03. Gesticulates A. Blot : Disco industrial.

04. Tweed : Originally an attempt to reconstruct Front 242's "Headhunter." Having failed (spectacularly!), a buttload of noise and crunch was slopped in on top of it.

05. Moonbase Alpha : Sampling Space : 1999 into some Bone Honer-ish techno loops. Boy is it black.

06. Godflush (Phenolphthalein) : Cut down, uptempoed version of Godflush (Kaolinite). Phenolphthalein is, among other things, a laxative.

07. Spartan : Drone with sparse bass and percussion.

08. Whores Of The Dong : The Whores Of Doom / Burt Goes To Los Angeles riff crossbred with The Eye Of The Dong groove. The resulting sound is pretty nice, I think.

09. Dung [Xopher.tmix] : Dronier remix of [Dong].

10. Dung [Xopher.tm Revenge Mix] : Weird "remix" of [Dong], with some strange vocal and clicky-poppy elements.

11. Godflush (Kaolinite) : Vaguely Godflesh-like dronesludge. Kaolinite was at one time the active ingredient in Kaopectate.

12. Brickbat Brigade : While fiddling around with the intent to produce something else, I accidentally hit on a Wumpscutish grind-slam thing. So I ran with it.

13. Trough : The PISS to round out the ASS. Noisy gurgles and grinds.

As usual, shoot me an email if you want to listen to this stuff.

Loggerficator
2006.04.17 at 17:36 | comments (2)
loggerficator_.jpg

Eleven tracks clocking in at a total of 50:39. The only shitting on the album occurs in Bungthruster (where it's used to simulate a sort of wet-boots stomp) and in Nightstick Sodomy (for obvious reasons). I'm almost proud of this album - it has its non-sucky moments and it's a lot more structured than previous PPAC releases, with little to no reliance on canned loops.

Album title by PW, Wasteland inspired by mdxi, guitars by BURZUM, textural support from _Lasar, everything else by me.

Track Listing

01. Attrition : Drum-and-Bassy noisy intro thinger.

02. Main Bus Undervolt : Dark noise-techno that turned out surprisingly non-shitty. A textural setup for Wasteland. Track title taken from the Apollo 13 incident (the anniversary of which occurred the same day the track was finalized).

03. Wasteland (Total) : Making techno-industrial history by covering a song I've never even heard, Wasteland is a visualization of the Wikipedia synposis of the 1971 Emerson, Lake & Palmer album Tarkus. Suggested by mdxi, which is why he gets album credit. It's a given that the track, which is excessively techno-noise-jungle-military-industrial, bears zero resemblance to either the original or the intentions of ELP. This is entirely intentional.... and the results are entirely unintentionally nonshitty.

0:13 Impairment (Lead) : A voice (presumably someone on the insertion team) screams PROG ROCK SUCKS! as the choppers come in.
2:28 Evidence Of Structure : A military team explores the site of Tarkus' final battle.
5:18 Robodillo : OMFG TARKUS LIVES (some kind of ZOMBIE ROBOT ARMADILLO THING)
1:52 Manticored : (which then gets its ass kicked, again.)
1:14 Impairment (Follow) : The same complainer on the insertion bitches some more during the extraction.

04. Bungthruster : Semiambient stompnoise, with some wet slurpiness for texture.

05. Planet Of The Americans : More textural noise, with some Bart Simpson, screaming monkeys and gunshots buried in the background for creepiness.

06. Lungenscheisser : Dark ambient noise that goes very well with the back cover of the album.

07. Hydrocodone : Solios reading spam email.

08. Pythagorrhea : A sequence of triangles. Autechre failing geometry.

09. Bert Goes To Los Angeles : Setup for Whores Of Doom, featuring Beavis and Butthead and a variation on the loops and processing of WOD.

10. Whores Of Doom : You people are all whores. Nicely drawn-out dark techno that could be appreciated by anyone who actually likes Velvet Acid Christ or Lords Of Acid.

11. Nightstick Sodomy : Noisescape exit.

As usual, email me if you're interested in actually listening to this shit. There's been some interest at Goth Night and on IRC but so far the inbox is empty. Probably due to the complete lack of non-DCR interweb promotion. :)

The Eye Of The Dong

ofthedong_front_.jpg

Seven variations on a riff, plus an intro track to transition from "Aye of the Dong" into the block of "I of the Dong" mixes. Composition is something of a parody of the nine THOUSAND mixes of Nine Inch Nails "Perfect Drug" and "Head Like A Hole," as well as KMFDM's habit of releasing The Track And A Bunch Of Minor Variant Remixes You'll Never Listen To Again as a "single."

Kids these days.

Oh, and there's a cartoon dong on the back.

BADISTHEGOAL

badisthegoal_front_.jpg
Track Listing

01. Point Four Millidans : Explained here. Based on a true story. It's a .4 and not higher due to the lack of INCOMING!.

02. ORORORAS (Funk Mix) : The vocals and poop from ORORORAS with some distortion and new rhythm loops. Think of it as a dance mix gone horribly wrong. Mercifully short.

03. Real Men Don't Wipe : More danceable dookie. This one still cracks me up. I do not apologize for the overcheese - bad IS the goal.

04. Assblower (Buttlord Mix) : Pornish remix of Assblower from the RAW single. More of a complete rebuild than a remix.

05. [Dong] (quiet mix) : Remix of [Dong] from the SHITAKE(R) single. Fewer effects, no TRON sample and a more generalized ambience let the riff out.

06. Slipnut (plug mix) : Another remix from SHITAKE(R) - this one with Tron and Caddyshack samples. More danceish badness.

07. Stop Believing (Union Mix) : A bunch of drunken Pitt tards were karaoking Journey's "Don't Stop (Believing)" on my walk home one night. I grabbed about a minute of it with my camera and used that, sheetmetal, some of BURZUM's guitar work and some other bits to build this, which is as much a "cover" as it is anything else. You won't catch even a smidge of the original song unless you know exactly what to listen for.

08. Cooling Tower No. 1 : Ambient noise sludge mixed out of the eminations of the CMNH climate control system, which had a rod loose or something - it was making a distinctly atypical clanging that had to be put to use.

09. Windbreaker (Gale Force) : Remix of the title track of the Windbreaker single. Same length with a hell of a lot more oomph. Think of it as Windbreaker with a lot more texture.

10. Blivet : Ten pounds of bass in a five pound track. Created by spelling out "BLIVET! o_o" in Garageband, chucking in an 80s drum beat and mucking around extensively with the results. No shitting, no pissing, no other noise - touched up slightly in Soundtrack.

Shoot me an email if you're interested in actually listening to this shit.

Shitake(r) (rhymes with Autechre)

SHITAKE(R)_single_.jpg

_Lasar : Ambient noise, Pissing
BURZUM : Guitar, Vocals
solios : Trashcan, loops, ambient noise, assbanjo, mangling.

Notes

Trivia : This single features vastly less assnoise than previous PPAC releases. This does not mean that we intend to move away from our bowelish roots... but we do need time to generate new source material for future mangling.

[Dong] is a play on the Aphex Twin track [Symbol]. When [Symbol] is viewed in a spectroscope, you get smacked in the face with an image of Richard D. James. We're not nearly that talented - [Dong] uses a crude outline of the PPAC logo as GarageBand loop source.

Rashcan features solios on live percussion - percussion performed by beating a broom handle on a trashcan. BURZUM provides the vocals, which consist of a pitch-shifted and effected bellow of THAT'S NOT A MILK YOU IDIOT!.

Shitake(r) also features BURZUM on vocals and guitar. The gurgling buzz-click IDM-fest is what you get when you feed an .aif of _Lasar pissing (into what sounds like a coffee can) into Soundtrack and slow it down. Soundtrack handles track speed vastly differently than Final Cut Pro does, and this fact is abused on....

Slipnut, named after all the fat fire-plug shaped acne-encrused greasy shits with Slipknot shirts that insist on oozing around Ceremony, cluttering up the place with their suck. Fun with Soundtrack speed adjustments and effects produce the Winterkaltesque noise blast that the track degenerates into.

CROONER is finished. All tracks on the singles are, in fact, real. The Pitchmix of ORORORAS is actually pretty damned hilarious.
