Boraxing the various nooks and crannies has sent the roaches off to tastier climes. Worked at Allegheny Center, works here - or seems to be so far.

The new problem is centipedes.* While the roaches got in from various holes in the base of the east wall, the centipedes seem to be coming in from a crack next to a vent (or worse, through the vent) on the base of the west wall.

mdxi recommends DryDex Spackle, which is probably a lot less potentially flammable than the sealant I already have on hand.

The holes in question are mouse-capable, so I do need to patch them at some point.

* Since I boraxed I've seen one roach and stomped the bastard. Given the results (white gunk as opposed to the usual roach-colored gunk), I'd wager it had a stomach full of the stuff. Since I vacuumed I haven't seen any.... and since I've vacuumed I've seen two centipedes. One "regular" sized, and one finger-sized battleship centipede that was likely out looking for the scout. The fact that they like to waltz around on the walls and Stop when the lights are turned on makes 'em a lot easier to swat.

I assmue you have these. If so, unless you have an Infestation of them, seeing one or two once in a while isn't a bad thing, as they're actually quite helpful. House centipedes and spiders are welcome guests in my home, as long as they don't have raucous parties and steal my beer.

That looks about right. I've seen a few here and there, rarely on the Big side. Last night's was positively Lovecraftian, though.

While they're Not Bad (much like spiders - they only go where the food is), that doesn't mean I enjoy the prospect of a Living Wall.

Also, there's the Contingency Gin to consider. Can't let the buggers anywhere near that.

I've got house centipedes.

Creepy little fuckers and they run stupid fast. I'm not really a fan of anything that can skitter, but hey.

Two is nothing. Literally nothing. Smash them as you see them. I tend to get them more when it rains and then don't see them again for a while.

Wet/moist seems to be par for the course for me.

The O_O for me is that this is the first place I've lived in that comes with them. Thirty years of living and centipedes are just now on the menu. What comes with my next place - tarantulas?
